New York, New York - Part I

From Scranton we drove to Maplewood, NJ and handed the car over to the good folks at DCH Audi for its well deserved 5,000 mile check-up.We took a cab into the city and started to rediscover and enjoy New York. As usual it was hot and muggy (since leaving California, the temperatures have varied between 90 and 93 degrees. The real difference is that since the eastern part of South Dakota, it is no longer dry but muggy)

Canyons in the city. After spending most of our time until Toronto in the "wide-open" spaces, walking in city canyons took a little adjustment.

one of my beloved "little church in the canyon" scenes.

If we could ignore the heat and humidity, (actually just the humidity) this would be great. Most things we want to see are within walking distance - below

Next we will immerse ourselves in a little culture - The Cloisters, Guggenheim, MOMA, Museum of Natural History, The Frick, The Met, Neue Galerie - let's see how many of these interesting places we will actually be able to visit.
