Freshman Nicole Tanoue Breaks School Record with a Round of 65 in Collegiate Debut

CSUN freshman Nicole Tanoue breaks the school record by firing a sensational 65 in her first collegiate round at the Timpanogos Collegiate Invitational. Tanoue had an impressive performance with five birdies and three pars on the front nine and ended the day at 7-under 65. Her round is one shot better than the previous record-holder. The Matador women’s golf team had a team round of 295, tying for 12th place in the 19-team field. Coach Michelle Winkler expressed her pride in the team’s performance and looks forward to the next round. -- BVM Sports

CSUN Men’s Golf Team Tied for Eighth after First Round of Falcon Invitational

The CSUN men’s golf team tied for eighth place after the first round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Blue Golf Course. They posted a 9-over 297, which puts them in a tie with South Dakota. Valparaiso leads the tournament with a 3-under 285. Eirik Thomassen, Felix Schrott, and Antoine Sale are the low scorers for CSUN. Brandon McDonough and Thomas Burou are also contributing to the team’s score. The Matadors will be paired with New Mexico State, Weber State, and Gonzaga for the second round. -- BVM Sports

CSUN Women’s Soccer Slumps in 3-0 Loss to No. 4 UCLA, Looking Ahead to Big West Matchup

CSUN Women’s Soccer team faced a tough 3-0 defeat against No. 4 ranked UCLA in a match held at Matador Soccer Field. The match saw CSUN goalkeepers making some key saves, but UCLA managed to find the back of the net with three goals. CSUN put up a strong fight against UCLA but fell short. California Baptist defeats CSUN 3-1 in men’s soccer match

CSUN suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of California Baptist Lancers, losing 3-1 in a men’s soccer match. The Lancers took an early lead with two goals in the first 13 minutes, while CSUN managed to score one goal in the second half. Despite CSUN’s pressure in the final minutes, the Lancers held on for the win. The victory is significant for California Baptist as they improve their record to 1-2-1 after being favored in the preseason poll. Eastern Washington Eagles defeat CSUN Matadors in a thrilling five-set non-conference match in Portland. CSUN fought hard, with Leah Miller leading the team with 16 kills. Perri Starkey and Carisa Barron also had impressive performances with double-doubles. Despite CSUN’s efforts, Eastern Washington out-hit them with a .257 to .192 hitting percentage. The Eagles’ strong serving and overall performance secured their victory. CSUN coach John Price expressed frustration but remains optimistic about the team’s future matches. The University of Wyoming volleyball team remains undefeated after a recent victory over Cal State Northridge. Wyoming extended their overall record to 9-0 with a 3-1 win at the Portland Invitational. Rylee Schulz led the offensive charge with 15 kills, while Tierney Barlow and Sarah Holcomb added nine kills each. Sierra Grizzle and Holly Eastridge stood out defensively with 15 digs each. Wyoming’s strong performance puts them in a good position as they head into the upcoming UniWyo Invite. -- BVM Sports
