Food drive for CSUN Food Pantry: The Community Concerns Committee at First Presbyterian Church of Granada Hills holds a non-perishable food drive to help stock the food pantry at Cal State University, Northridge, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and also 8:30-11 a.m. Sept. 24. The pantry benefits students who do not have much income for food while school is in session. Current needs: canned or boxed food items and hygiene items. No glass containers or past-date items. CSUN women’s volleyball loses in five sets to SF Dons, prep for Big West opener
CSUN women’s volleyball team falls to the San Francisco Dons in a close five-set match at the USF Challenge. CSUN had a strong start, winning the first set convincingly, but the Dons fought back to win the next three sets before securing the victory in the fifth set. Despite the loss, CSUN showed resilience and put up a strong fight. Their libero, Kelsey Knudsen, led in digs with 26 while Carisa Barron and Perri Starkey each recorded 14 kills. CSUN will now prepare for their upcoming Big West season opener against Cal State Bakersfield. -- BVM Sports
Rising’s Danny Trejo earns USL Player of the Month
The 25-year-old out of Morelia, Mexico was selected 14th by the Los Angeles FC out of California State University, Northridge in the first round of the 2021 MLS draft. Trejo was then signed to Los Angeles’ USL affiliate, the Las Vegas Lights. -- YardBarker
