CSUN Women’s Soccer to face UC Davis in Big West home opener

CSUN Women’s Soccer will face UC Davis in their Big West home opener on Thursday night, followed by a match against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday. The games will be broadcast on ESPN+, and CSUN is hoping to bounce back after a tight loss to Hawai’i in their last match. The Matadors have shown improvement in their scoring this season, with four goals in their last four games. However, they will face tough competition from UC Davis and Cal State Fullerton, both of whom have solid records. This is a crucial weekend for CSUN as they aim to climb the Big West standings. -- BVM Sports

The Top U.S. Colleges for Delivering Social Mobility

California State University – Los Angeles tops the social-mobility ranking, followed by the University of California – Merced and Berea College, a small private college in Kentucky. Climate risks place 39 million U.S. homes at risk of losing their insurance

“The report shows that actuarially sound pricing is going to make it unaffordable to live in certain places as climate impacts emerge,” said David Russell, a professor of insurance and finance at California State University Northridge. These Cal State colleges are harder to get into than some UCs

California Maritime Academy, CSU Northridge and CSU San Marcos, three schools that were not in the top 10 hardest to get into — each had an admit rate close to 90% — did break the top 10 in enrollment rates, with rates of about 20% in 2022. Those rates were in line with San Diego State, Cal State Fresno, UC Irvine, UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara. Despite its relatively low admit rate, CSU Long Beach did not have as many students elect to attend, with an enrollment rate of 16% in fall 2022. -- San Francisco Chronicle

From Bankrupt Entrepreneur to Insurance Industry Mogul

Though his company is under new ownership, Gaspar continues to steer the ship. The nation’s oldest dance company, the Martha Graham Dance Company, turns 100 and launches its three-year centennial celebration at The Soraya, on the campus of California State University, Northridge on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m., a celebration that will subsequently travel to theaters around the nation and be celebrated worldwide. -- SCV News
