Welcome to our College of Education Self-care Initiative, informally called Self-care for U at Northridge, the SUN Program.

It is so wonderful that you are considering self-care as an important way to care for yourself and keep balance and health in your life. Self-care means taking responsibility for yourself to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle at work and in your personal world through individually determined, proactive activities. You are at your best when you attend to yourself in equal measure to others in day-to-day living!

It is so nice to have something to celebrate during these uncertain days! This week on Wednesday, April 22nd, people all over the world will be gathering together virtually to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earthday for hope and inspiration, community building, and climate action. The 24 hour national virtual EARTHRISE event believes that “in a time of global pandemic, we must heal together. The coronavirus crisis won't shut us down. EARTHRISE is the largest, most diverse global mobilization in history on behalf of our environment and our planet. In 2020, mindful of public health considerations due to the global coronavirus crisis, we’ll be using the power of the internet to mobilize and connect millions in a collective call for transformative action for our planet.”  Read more

As we continue to deal with the coronavirus and all its impact on our lives, it is not unusual for us to feel a certain type of discomfort. That discomfort you’re feeling is called grief, and this is the title of a recently published article by Scott Berinato in the Harvard Press Review. Scott likens what we are going through to the 5 stages of grief identified by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.
