Bachelor of Music in Wind Performance

2 pieces: Mozart Concerto in G or D (Exposition only), then choose either Bach Sonata (complete) or piece from Flute Music by French Composers (Schirmer); All Major scales and 3 octave chromatic. (Transfer students: also 1–2 orchestral excerpts of student’s choice; plus All Minor scales.)

If you are auditioning on a woodwind or brass instrument as a composer, prepare two selections (such as an etude and a movement from a sonata or concerto) of contrasting classical styles (no jazz or popular). It is suggested that you select your audition materials in consultation with your private teacher or your school band/orchestra teacher. Prepare major scales up to three flats/sharps. Do not use an accompanist at your audition.

Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, Music Therapy or Music Industry

If you are auditioning on a woodwind or brass instrument for one of the options listed above, prepare two selections (such as an etude and a movement from a sonata or concerto) of contrasting classical styles (no jazz or popular). It is strongly suggested that you select your audition materials in consultation with your private teacher or your school band/orchestra teacher. Prepare all major scales. Master of Music in Wind Performance

3 pieces: Mozart Concerto G or D (movements 1 and 2), 1 major 20th Century work of student’s choice 1–2 movements (i.e. Ibert, Poulenc, Prokofiev, Muczynski, Nielson, etc.), 1 other contrasting piece of student’s choice (1–2 movements); 2 orchestral excerpts of student’s choice; All Major scales, All minor scales and 3 octave chromatic. Submit a copy of your senior recital program or another comparable solo recital performance. Also provide a sample of your scholarly writing (research paper, term paper, etc.).

Be prepared to perform one entire sonata or concerto as one of your three selections. An accompanist is recommended but not required.
