SUN Program

Welcome to our College of Education Self-care Initiative, informally called Self-care for U at Northridge, the SUN Program.

It is so wonderful that you are considering self-care as an important way to care for yourself and keep balance and health in your life. Self-care means taking responsibility for yourself to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle at work and in your personal world through individually determined, proactive activities. You are at your best when you attend to yourself in equal measure to others in day-to-day living!

COE Self-Care Activities Fall 2019 - Week 2

We are excited to announce that the EPC Department's Diversity Committee will be co-sponsoring a workshop with the self-care program entitled “Unconscious Bias and Its Impact on Teaching” with facilitator Marcy DeVeaux, Ph.D, Professor of Journalism and Associate Director of Faculty Development, on Tuesday, October 1st. Lunch will be provided! Please note that we have rescheduled the presentation “Safety in our College of Education Building” with Chief of Police Greg Lee Murphy from Oct. 1st to a new time on Dec. 3rd. Read more

COE Self-Care Activities Fall 2019 - Week 1

Welcome back to a an exciting new year of College of Education faculty and staff self-care! This year, we will continue with meditation as a favorite self-care theme. Josh Einhorn will offer 30 minutes of inspiration and guided relaxation every Wednesday. In addition, this year we will have the opportunity to attend some presentations on new types of meditation, such as healing through sound meditation, and forest bathing, a form of meditation in nature. This is the final week of our self-care program this academic year. I want to thank all faculty and staff who participated this year, and a huge thank you to Josh Einhorn who lead our wonderful weekly meditation and inspiration sessions, and also brought incredible meditation leaders to our special monthly presentations.
