CSUN Women’s Soccer Stumbles in 5-3 Loss to UC San Diego
CSUN Women’s Soccer made a valiant effort for a comeback but fell short in a 5-3 loss to UC San Diego. Izabel Reyes scored her first career brace, with Ashley Cruz also finding the net for CSUN. The Tritons controlled the first half, building a three-goal lead. CSUN fought back in the second half, with Reyes scoring two goals and Cruz adding another. However, UCSD responded with a goal of their own to secure the win. Despite the loss, CSUN showed great energy and their second-half performance was commendable. High school playoffs volleyball seedings released with Palisades on top in Open Division
Palisades won the last of its record 30 section titles (and third under coach Carlos Gray) to culminate the 2020 campaign, delayed until spring 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic. The higher seeds will host the semifinals Monday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. and the final is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 3 at Cal State Northridge. -- Los Angeles Times

Cal Poly Mustangs sweep CSUN Matadors with a dominating 3-0 victory
Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Lizzy Markovska led the charge for the Cal Poly Mustangs as they earned a 3-0 sweep over CSUN on Thursday. Markovska recorded 11 kills, while four other Mustangs contributed with at least five kills each. Cal Poly’s defense proved dominant, holding CSUN to a .084 hitting percentage. The Mustangs took control of the match in the first set, pulled away in the second, and comfortably secured the victory in the third. With this win, Cal Poly now sits in fourth place in the Big West standings and will face CSU Bakersfield next. -- BVM Sports

When Ray was a student at Newbury Park High School, he got a video camera and started making movies with his friends just for fun. His passion led him to earn a degree in art with an emphasis in photography from California State University, Northridge. After college, Ray spent many years shooting corporate videos for companies including ANSgear in Simi Valley, which makes paintball sporting equipment, and automotive company Wilwood Engineering Inc., which manufactures high-performance disc brakes in Camarillo. -- VC Reporter
