CSUN’s Jamar Ricketts has been named as one of the Players to Watch for the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer season by the United Soccer Coaches. Ricketts led the team in goals, points, and shots last season and was recognized for his performance. Matadors Close Out Exhibition Play with Win Against Hope International

California State University, Northridge Women’s Soccer wrapped up exhibition play with a 3-1 victory over Hope International on Saturday evening at Matador Soccer Field. Kacie Garrity was credited with the Matadors’ first goal of the night while Daisy Torres broke a 1-1 tie and Cassidy Imperial-Pham closed the scoring on the night. -- SCV News

CSUN Water Polo Places 15 on the ACWPC All-Academic Team

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN Water Polo placed its second-most honorees in school history with 15 on the 2023 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Team on Monday. The 15 honorees are one shy of the team record set in 2021. CSUN was also one-of-53 schools recognized nationwide with Team Honors by the ACWPC for posting a grade-point-average of 3.46. -- BVM Sports

I’m not sure what a Division I-A transition timeline entails, but Chat GPT says Boise State went “2-10 in both 1996 and 1997.” Boise State did go 2-10 in 1996 while coach Pokey Allen was away for most of the season battling cancer but was 4-7 under Houston Nutt in 1997 (5-6 if you count Cal State Northridge’s forfeit). -- KTVB

GCAA All-America Scholars NORMAN, Okla. — For the first time in program history, CSUN men’s golf had five student-athletes named GCAA All-America Scholars as the Golf Coaches Association of America announced its NCAA Division I recipients on Wednesday. CSUN Men’s Basketball Bolsters Team with New Transfers for 2023-24 Season

CSUN Head Men’s Basketball Coach Andy Newman has announced the signings of Jared Barnett and Jasman Sangha to the Matadors for the 2023-24 season. Barnett brings winning experience from his time at San Diego State, where he played in three NCAA Tournament games and helped the team win three conference championships. Sangha, a versatile forward/center, adds scoring options and playmaking ability to the Matadors’ frontcourt. CSUN Women’s Soccer shows promise in 2-1 exhibition loss to California Baptist

CSUN Women’s Soccer suffered a 2-1 defeat in an exhibition match against California Baptist. Paige Califf scored the lone goal for CSUN in the 77th minute, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a two-goal deficit. CSUN fought back late in the game, creating chances to equalize, but were unable to convert. Despite the loss, the team showed signs of organization defensively and will continue to work on their performance.
