CSUN Continues to Break Records in 2023 Track & Field Season

The CSUN Track & Field team had a remarkable 2023 season, breaking several school records and achieving top-10 performances. Indoors, David Phillips, Jr. won the 200m and set the second fastest time in school history. Logan Davis also set a school record in the 60m dash and won two individual events. Arianna Alexander broke the women’s 60m dash record. Outdoors, the men’s team had seven top-10 performances and set new school records in the 4x100m relay and the 400m. Bryson Williams and the women’s 4x100m relay team were also victorious. An impressive season for the Matadors! -- BVM Sports

CSUN Announces 2023 Fall Women’s Tennis Schedule

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN women’s tennis coach Gary Victor has announced the Fall portion of the 2023-24 schedule. The action begins Sept. 15-17 at the Hen/Athena Invitational Duals in Claremont. Play continues from Sept. 28-Oct. 1 when the Matadors head to the San Diego State Fall Invitational. The following week sees CSUN travel to the Long Beach State Fall Invitational. -- BVM Sports

CSUN Adds Bobby Brown to Men’s Basketball Staff

California State University, Northridge head men’s basketball coach Andy Newman has announced the addition of Bobby Brown to the Matador staff. A former NBA player and Big West Freshman of the Year, Brown will serve as director of Player Development this upcoming season. -- SCV News

Former Cal State Northridge and Western New Mexico coach, Lauren Unger, becomes part of LMU women’s basketball team as assistant coach

The LMU women’s basketball team has hired Lauren Unger as their newest assistant coach. Unger brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Lions, having previously worked at Cal State Northridge and Western New Mexico. She is excited to join Coach Aarika Hughes and her dedicated staff at LMU. Unger’s passion for developing student-athletes on and off the court is a perfect fit for the program. Fans can look forward to seeing the team’s progress under Unger’s guidance in the upcoming season at Gersten Pavilion. -- BVM Sports

CSUN Women’s Soccer Opens Fall Training Camp and Prepares for 2023 Season

CSUN Women’s Soccer team has started their fall training camp in preparation for the upcoming season. Head coach Christine Johnson is impressed with the team’s dedication and fitness levels. The team is looking to build on the progress made last season, with several returning players who have experience in college soccer. They will have to fill the void left by the departure of All-Big West First Team selection Cindy Arteaga, who has signed with a professional team in Mexico. Graduate forward Ashley Cruz is the team’s top returning point scorer and is determined to make her final season a successful one. The team has added several new players, including true freshmen and Division I transfers. Their exhibition play begins on August 8th, with the official season opener on August 17th. -- BVM Sports
