Bobby Brown, Former NBA Player, Joins CSUN Men’s Basketball Staff as Director of Player Development

CSUN Head Men’s Basketball Coach Andy Newman has announced that Bobby Brown, a former NBA player and Big West Freshman of the Year, has joined the Matador staff as Director of Player Development. Brown’s experience as a player and his success both in college and professionally make him a valuable asset to the team. He will work closely with the players to enhance their basketball skills and mentor them off the court. Brown’s addition to the staff is expected to have a positive impact on the program and the student-athletes. -- BVM Sports

Elle Laur of CSUN Women’s Golf Team Wins The Big West’s Service and Leadership Award

Elle Laur, a player on the CSUN women’s golf team, has received The Big West Service and Leadership Award for her outstanding contributions both on and off the golf course. Laur, a broadcast journalism major, has excelled in her studies and is the founder and president of The Hidden Opponent chapter at CSUN, which raises awareness for student-athlete mental health. As team captain, Laur has also performed exceptionally well in golf tournaments and is an active member of the youth council for LA28. She joins a prestigious list of former CSUN honorees. La Cumbre Country Club Hosting State Women’s Amateur Golf Championship

There is one local player in the field: Dos Pueblos High alum Gabby Minier, who completed her fourth season at Colorado State this spring. She will tee off at No. 10 at 1:20 p.m. on Monday. Her playing partners are Natalie Mu, a former Cal golfer who won the Southern California Women’s Mid-Amateur last year, and Gracie Piar, of Cal State Northridge, a former Illinois high school state champion and four-time all-state honoree. -- Noozhawk

Trevor Olson brings coaching experience to CSUN women’s basketball team

Trevor Olson, a seasoned coach with success at the University of San Diego, has joined the CSUN women’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach. Head coach Carlene Mitchell praised Olson for his experience in winning cultures and his dedication to the holistic development of student-athletes. Olson’s tenure at USD saw the team achieve milestones in both on-court performance and academic success. His expertise in coaching the guards and his impact on recruiting will be valuable additions to CSUN’s program.
