Expected Work Hours: Between Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Some evenings and weekends as needed.
Supervision: The position is directly supervised by a Community Director and serves on the Residence Life Team.
Position Focus: Is a part-time paraprofessional position for the daily operation of residential community housing for predominantly traditional-age college students from significantly diverse backgrounds. The Graduate Assistant will assist the Community Director in creating a comprehensive and responsive student-centered educational program for their area of responsibility.
Position Qualifications:
- Enrollment and attendance in classes at California State University, Northridge with a minimum of 8 graduate units.
- Genuine interest in exploring the field of Higher Education or working on a college campus required.
- Leadership experience and previous involvement in a student organization preferred.
- One year of residence life experience preferred.
- Good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Supervisory/Advising experience preferred.
- Training and presentation skills preferred.
- Conflict and Mediation skills preferred.
- Good judicial and financial standing with the university and Student Housing.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Involvement in extra-curricular activities and employment beyond the Graduate Assistant job is limited to a total of 15 hours per week and must be approved by supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities will be determined by the supervisor and department. Areas in which the graduate assistant might be involved include:
- Assist in the supervision, mentorship, and development of up to 10 resident advisors.
- Assist in facilitating staff meetings for resident advisors.
- Participate in Residential Life Team meetings.
- Assist in other departmental special projects as desired (i.e., Recruitment & Training, Academic Judicial
- Conduct Meetings, Community Building, Programming)
- Advise RHA Council Directors and/or Affinity Groups.
- Engage in direct individual student contact with resident advisors and office assistants.
- Attend and participate in all training and departmental staff meetings as requested.
- Administrative duties and tasks as assigned.
Skill Development:
- Direct experience with student advising and development.
- Face-to-face informal counseling contact with students.
- Experience with paraprofessional staff selection and training.
- Experience with program development and implementation.
- Experience understanding CSUN student leadership development.

Position Description: The purpose of the Community Center Assistant/Learning Center Assistant positions is to be a resource for all residents, staff, and visitors to our buildings. We provide a service-oriented atmosphere where everyone should feel welcomed and comfortable asking for assistance.
Community Center Assistants (CCA) and Learning Center Assistants (LCA) are asked to fulfill the responsibilities described below.
Responsibilities
- Provide security for the Community Center/Learning Center
- Carefully monitor entrances to the building
- Check identification of all persons entering the building to ensure only building residents, guests, and authorized staff is gaining access to the building
- Manage equipment check-out o Document incidents as necessary
- Monitor and report security and safety issues • Serve as an ambassador and customer service
- representative for CSUN Student Housing
- Serve as an information source for residents and guests on Student Housing services and policies, and general
- university information. Refer inquiries to the proper university office as needed
- Maintain records of transactions and services provided
- Answer the phone and provide assistance as needed
- Support events and programs that take place in the Center.
- Provide assistance to the Senior Community Directors and Assistant Community Directors with clerical tasks
- and other projects

- Work experience in a related area or transferable skills from previous employment
- Good academic standing and meet departmental GPA requirements for student employment: 2.5 cumulative

Compensation: CCAs/LCAs are provided a $15.50 hourly rate. Hours will include both time spent at the desk and mandatory staff meetings.

Responsibilities: This position will provide general office clerical support for the Student Housing Office. Under the general supervision of the Front Office Manager, the Office Assistant will perform the following general clerical duties: filing, scanning, answer telephones and screen calls; fax distribution, mail distribution, make keys, restock paper in copier/fax machines, prepare and post fliers and signs; update computer-based programs; process cancellations and room transfer requests, maintain records; and perform other duties needed by the Student Housing Office that will include daily raising and lowering of the flags, conducting housing tours, making deliveries to main campus, performing student lock outs, retrieve mail/packages, dipping keys and assisting with check in and check out, communicate directly with residents and outside visitors, schedule appointments, dispatch vacuums, empty recycle bins, empty the office shredder, and attend mandatory staff meetings.
Qualifications: One year general clerical office experience preferred but not necessary. A commitment to customer service is a must. Equivalent training in a vocational business school may be substituted in lieu of experience. Strong command of the English language is a must. Requires the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks with numerous interruptions. Must establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with various levels of staff, management, and outside vendors. Some weekends are mandatory. Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods. Bi- lingual, Spanish or ASL, helpful, but not required.
Skills Required: typing of 30 wpm; operating knowledge of computers including Word & Excel programs’ and operation of general office equipment (telephone, fax, copier, etc.)

We are searching for an experienced Student Housing Student Assistant
Job Purpose:
Assist the office manager and perform general office duties including processing/tracking mail, answering phones, greeting customers, pick-up and distribute incoming mail to appropriate personnel, filing paperwork, and maintaining office equipment and supplies. Provide excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Answer telephones, direct calls to the appropriate personnel and take messages

Duties:
Mail Services Office Assistants work under the direction of the Mail Services Staff under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Operations. The following duties are performed daily:
- Assist with the collection of the U.S. Postal mail and packages from the Northridge Post Office.

- Position Title: Conference Assistant (CA)

Major Responsibility Areas
Administrative Duties 40%
This position requires a high level of customer service to check-in and out groups with confirmed reservations, a strong sense of organization and the ability to pay attention to detail. Major responsibilities include:
- A firm working knowledge of excel. Will be required to enter data on client rosters, floor plans, spreadsheets and forms.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Word; good writing skills essential for client emails, correspondences and memos.
- Creativity for personalizing signage by hand or with computer programs such as Microsoft Publisher or PowerPoint
- Responsible for submitting key requests in a timely manner for assignment and uploading keys to the doors
- Work with staff to request/pick-up parking permits and meal card orders prior to group check-in.
- Ensure group materials are ready for pick-up and distribution upon arrival.
- Establishing communication with international conference guests and group leaders in a professional manner
Operations Work 40%
The CA is responsible for preparing the apartments for arrival and departure. The position also requires assisting group coordinators at special events. Major duties would include:
- Inspecting apartments prior to groups’ arrival, after their departure and completing an Apartment Condition Report
- Coordination and communication with the Operations department to prepare apartments
- Ensure all amenities and special orders are delivered promptly
- Communicate with the crew to ensure apartments are ready and stocked prior to check-in.
- Turn on A/Cs in the apartments prior to guests’ arrival and shut off A/Cs after check-out.
- Prepare lobbies for check-in; be available for group special events.
- Assist crew with set up of classrooms and pool party reservations.
On-Call Responsibilities 15%
CA is required to work one scheduled day per week on call from 8 pm-8 am and is required to carry a duty phone. During this time CA is expected to check conference groups that arrive outside of normal business hours and handle emergencies that may arise.
Special Projects 5%
The CA is required to attend staff training and one mandatory staff meeting every week. The CA may be asked to assist the Manager or Coordinator of Conference & Hospitality Services with special projects or other duties throughout the summer.
Work Schedule: The Conference Services Office is open seven days a week from 8 am-8 pm. The CA will be assigned a morning or afternoon shift: 8 am – 2 pm, or 2 pm – 8 pm. Shift schedules will be determined during training and include work on weekends, the 4th of July Holiday, and after office hours.
Qualifications: Requires the ability to work independently and handle and prioritize multiple tasks. Must establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with various levels of staff, management, and outside vendors. 80% Apartment set-up
- Check apartment conditions before conference groups arrive and after they have departed.
- Help make key cards and check each key card in doors prior to guest arrival.
- Deliver TVs, microwaves and coffee pots to guests who have ordered them.
- Deliver linen packets to all apartments prior to guest’s arrival.
- Turn on A/C prior to the guest’s arrival. Plunge toilets, vacuum common areas, and place amenities in rooms.
- Help conference guests move to other units if the A/C unit does not work. Attend to last minute requests conference groups may have.
- Maintain inventory of borrowed/rented appliances, tables and chairs.
15% Event Support
- Deliver, set up and break-down tables & chairs for all conference events in common areas such as swimming pool decks, classrooms, lounges, recreation rooms, and outdoor green spaces.

- Check the condition of the event space prior to conference groups' use and work with Operations staff to ensure problems are resolved prior to the event

The COC may be asked to assist the Manager of Conference & Hospitality Services and/or Coordinator for Special Events with special projects throughout the summer.
