SIMPACT Receives Innovation in Education Award

SIMPACT Immersive Learning program, an initiative of the Michael D. Eisner College of Education and housed within the Center for Teaching and Learning, received the “Innovation in Education” award from the Valley Economic Alliance this spring. The Center for Teaching and Learning at CSUN welcomed their fourth biennial “What Really Works in Education” conference on Monday April 8th, 2019. The conference focused on how to improve outcomes for all students in an educational setting using Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and was sponsored in part by the Schools First Federal Credit Union. Intelligent LIVES stars three pioneering young American adults with intellectual disabilities – Micah, Naieer, and Naomie – who challenge perceptions of intelligence as they navigate high school, college, and the workforce. The film challenges what it means to be intelligent, and points to a future in which people of all abilities can fully participate in higher education, meaningful employment, and intimate relationships.
