More articles were submitted for consideration than ever before. Authors in this issue share practical tips for recognizing and addressing equity issues related to technological access, how to ensure classroom management strategies are culturally sensitive, and how to combat ableism by teaching to social justice standards. Minimizing the COVID Slide During the Summer

Many parents and educators are worried about a “COVID slide”, where students fail to retain any new information learned before and during the pandemic — as well as over the summer, when students are not in school. Families with more resources may have a way of halting that slide and actually help their children retain what they learned during the past academic year, according to California State University, Northridge special education professor Wendy Murawski, executive director and Eisner Endowed Chair for the Center for Teaching and Learning in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education for an introductory FuelEd workshop sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning on March 4th.  CSUN faculty and representatives from LAUSD Local Districts East and West as well as several charter schools attended. SIMPACT Receives Innovation in Education Award

SIMPACT Immersive Learning program, an initiative of the Michael D. Eisner College of Education and housed within the Center for Teaching and Learning, received the “Innovation in Education” award from the Valley Economic Alliance this spring. The conference focused on how to improve outcomes for all students in an educational setting using Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and was sponsored in part by the Schools First Federal Credit Union.
