The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) has been very busy providing professional development this year. Dr. Brian Foley and Dr. David Kretschmer provided a full day of NGSS training for the entire K-12 faculty and administration at Vaughn Next Century Learning Center and will continue to mentor their staff throughout this semester. Dr. Tamarah Ashton supported Franklin High School in Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Dr. Greg Knotts has been working with AGBU assisting them reach their common core objectives in social studies. Dr. Vanessa Goodwin is working with the Antelope Valley SELPA to promote differentiation and UDL. CTL consultant Robert Buck has been coaching the math faculty at Santa Monica Catholic High School and CTL consultant Jon Pearson has been introducing his “Drawing Out the Best in Your Students” at Hubbard and Sunland Elementary Schools and at the Primary Academy for School Success. Steve Holle has been collaborating with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in presenting hands-on STEM activities at a variety of schools. Additionally, CTL continues to work with Birmingham High School, San Fernando High School and Project Grad, and Granada Hills High School.
T-CARE (Teachers Connecting to Advance Retention and Empowerment) has recently published its fifth edition with a growing subscription of 5000 hard copies, 1800 digitally and is currently in 20 different states.
