PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

1) Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or college

2) Have been in good standing at the last institution attended.

3) Have at least a 2.5 grade point average in the last 60 semester units attempted.

4) Completion of 30 units of approved undergraduate courses in Communicative Disorders if baccalaureate degree is not in speech-language pathology. Attach prerequisite sheet here.

5) Passing score on the CSU Upper Division Writing Proficiency Exam. If this examination has not been taken, it may be taken the first semester of matriculation in graduate school. Find link to UDWE on campus Web site.

6) Transfer of observation hours and clinical hours from another university. Twenty five hours of observation and up to 100 hours of clinical hours may be transferred from a university who is accredited by the Council on Graduate Programs of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. If a prospective student does not have clinical hours, this will not deter consideration of application. All of the clinical hours can be obtained during study for the master's degree.

7) Student must have arrangements with a clinical site upon admission to this program. This is a pediatric site and is typically the employment site. The site must sign a Memo of Understanding with the university. The Memo states that a supervisor who is qualified will be provided by the work site for three semesters and that the student will be permitted time in work schedule for supervision of clinical hours. The supervisor will be enrolled in a Supervision Course directed by the university. Supervisors will be given adjunct faculty status at the university, continuing education credits, and a stipend.
