Beginner's Guide to HTML

This document provides basic instructions for coding in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) to create a Web page (an HTML file) on your desktop computer. The documentation assumes you are using a Windows (NT/95 or higher) or Macintosh computer with Netscape Communicator (version 4 or higher).

While you are working on your Web pages on your desktop computer, you are the only one who can view them. Other people can't see your pages until you publish them — i.e., transfer the files to a Web server.
