Research & Labs

Becoming involved in faculty research

Many CSUN Biology faculty have ongoing research programs, studying everything from cancer to coyotes. Students who have deep interest in biology and have completed sufficient introductory coursework can often participate in faculty research, learning about fundamental scientific methods first-hand. Student research assistants are often recruited to paid positions in faculty labs, and can earn course credit for research work.

To identify an opportunity for research experience, look over our list of faculty research topics, including individual faculty members' profiles and descriptions of their research specialties. If you see a faculty member's lab is doing research that excites your curiosity, email them and ask if they're looking for student assistants — and tell them why you're interested in working with them, specifically.
