Preparing students for graduate programs and research careers

Preparing Future Researchers

A mission of the PREPARE Lab is to give students foundational research and statistics knowledge to (1) make them more marketable for graduate programs, and (2) prepare them for graduate programs and future careers as research scientists.

Ensuring reliable and valid mental health scales in different groups

Psychometrics

The PREPARE Lab examines the factor structure, conducts invariance testing, and investigates convergent and concurrent validity of mental health scales in different groups (e.g., ethnic, cultural, generation status, sexual orientation).

Examining individual and contextual qualities related to adaptation

Research - Context Matters

The PREPARE Lab examines individual qualities and contextual qualities (e.g., society, community, family, peers, school climate) on adaptation, resiliency, and academics in various samples (e.g., ethnic/cultural groups, immigrants, sexual orientations) of youth and young adults.

Enhancing community/university programs through evaluation and assessment

Evaluation

The PREPARE Lab conducts (1) department assessment and (2) evaluation of community programs (e.g., parenting education, nutrition education, tax help for low-income families, sexuality education) and university programs (e.g., peer/faculty mentoring, peer learning facilitators).
