State Nursing Assumption Program of Loans for Education for Nursing Faculty (SNAPLE NF)
Purpose: To encourage students to complete a graduate degree and teach in a nursing program at an accredited California college or university
Payout: Up to $25,000 on outstanding student loans over the course of three academic years for teaching nursing for the equivalent of three full-time academic years
Prerequisites: Must be a student enrolled in or admitted to a program in which he or she will be enrolled at least half time each academic term. Must have satisfactory academic progress, a baccalaureate degree in nursing or a related field, and be nominated for the program by his or her institution.
State Nursing Assumption Program of Loans for Education for Nurses in State Facilities (SNAPLE NSF)
Purpose: To encourage registered nurses and students who will become registered nurses to seek employment in state-operated, 24-hour facilities with a registered nurse vacancy rate greater than 10 percent
Payout: Up to $20,000 on outstanding student loans in exchange for full-time employment service as a registered nurse in a state-operated, 24-hour facility with a registered nurse vacancy rate greater than 10 percent
Prerequisites: Students who are in an approved pre licensure program or have completed a pre licensure program qualify, as do licensed registered nurses in California.
Bachelor of Science Nursing Loan Repayment Program (BSNLRP)
Purpose: To increase the supply of registered nurses in medically underserved areas
Payout: Up to $19,000 on outstanding student loans in exchange for a two or four-year service obligation practicing patient care in a medically underserved area in California
Prerequisites: You must be a permanent California resident and U.S. citizen who is currently a licensed registered nurse
