CSUN students enrolled in a Master’s degree program may be considered for the following types of aid: State University Grant, scholarships, federal work-study, federal Direct unsubsidized loans, and graduate PLUS loans, Graduate Professional Grant is available for M.B.A or M.P.Acc. students only. Grants are limited to students pursuing their first Master’s degree. Students enrolled in a Doctoral degree program may be considered for the following types of aid: Doctoral Grant, scholarships, federal work-study, federal Direct unsubsidized loans, and graduate PLUS loans.
The amount and type of aid available is determined by: information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California DREAM Act Application (CADAA); availability of state and institutional funds; student enrollment; and all other applicable eligibility requirements for each form of financial aid.
We recommend that all students file a FAFSA or CADAA annually by March 2nd in order to be considered for the most financial aid as possible. All aid, with the exception of some scholarships, will require students to be enrolled at least half-time which is 4 units per semester.

A: Yes, fee sponsorships, fee waivers, and stipends must be coordinated with other financial aid, and may reduce your eligibility for grants and other need-based aid.

Q: Who qualifies for the Graduate Professional Fee Grant?
A: The Graduate Professional Fee Grant is available to students in an eligible M.B.A or M.P.Acc. program based on specific eligibility criteria and the availability of funds. Awarding of this grant to eligible students begins after the 4th week of the semester. General eligibility criteria:
- California resident
- Expected Family Contribution (EFC) no greater than sixty percent (60%) of student’s cost of attendance.
- Demonstrate need
- 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Enrolled at least half-time, unless in final semester
- Award cannot exceed the cost of the actual graduate business professional fee charged
- This grant can only pay the business graduate professional fee. Students with any sponsorship, fee waiver, or scholarship designated for tuition/fee payment may not have eligibility for the Graduate Professional Grant

A: The Doctoral Grant is available to students in an eligible Doctoral program based on students meeting specific eligibility criteria and the availability of funds. Awarding of this grant to eligible students begins after the 4th week of the semester. General eligibility criteria:
- California resident
- Expected Family Contribution (EFC) no more than 60% of student’s cost of attendance
- Enrolled at least half-time
- Student must meet financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements
- Award amount will vary from year to year and is subject to fund availability and applicant pool
- Students with any sponsorship, fee waiver, or scholarship designated for tuition/fee payment may not have eligibility for the Doctoral Grant
