The Art & Design Department exclusively facilitates the application and submission process online. Please note that only applications and supporting files submitted in PDF format through our online platform will be considered. These scholarships and awards are dedicated to full-time Art majors, emphasizing our commitment to supporting students in the field.

To be eligible, ensure that your application is completed by the deadline on Friday, March 15th, 2024, at 11:59 pm. We kindly emphasize that no submissions beyond this deadline will be accepted. We encourage all qualified individuals to take advantage of this opportunity and wish you the best in your pursuit of the Art & Design Scholarships and Awards.

NOTE: This form will not save automatically. You must complete this form in one sitting. If you submit this form multiple times, the most recent form submitted will be referenced by the committee.

Scholarship Requirement:

  1. Provide 4-5 thoroughly documented works that reflect your current academic focus. These works may encompass personal or class projects.
  2. If your submissions involve time-based media, please include a link to the corresponding video on platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo. Note: Animated and video pieces should adhere to a duration of 3 minutes each or consist of 3 pieces, each lasting 1 minute.
  3. Each artwork should specify the title, medium, and year.
  4. For digital works, present them in a gallery-like setting, allowing us to envision their real-world application.
  5. Ensure that all elements, including artwork and links, are consolidated into a single PDF document.

Scholarships & Awards List

1st Award: $2,500.00 
2nd Award: $1,000.00

Criteria: For students enrolled in the University’s Department of Art program who has demonstrated the development of sustainable business practices. The Award is intended to encourage artists, designers, and creators to follow their passion and desire to create art and to learn that the process of art-making has the power to create a sustainable business. Applicants must have started an art-related business or have continued to develop a sustainable business, primarily utilizing their personal artwork, art-making, and other creative endeavors. Students should complete an application, submit a faculty letter of support, and a 3-5 slide portfolio of their art business for consideration.

Scholarship: $500.00
Criteria: Must complete a minimum of 30 units by the end of Spring 2023. Outstanding service to the department, University, and/or community. 

Scholarship: $500.00
Criteria: Must complete a minimum of 90 units by the end of Spring 2024. Outstanding service to the department, University, and/or community.

Scholarship: $500.00
Criteria: Graduate status, outstanding service to the department, University, and/or community.

Scholarship: $500.00
Criteria: Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA overall and strong potential as a visual artist. Preference will be given to Communication (Graphic) Design students.

Scholarship: $500.00
Criteria: Must be a continuing student with a focus on animation or game design. Candidate must submit a portfolio website and a brief artist statement.

Scholarship: 6 @ $1,000.00 
Criteria: Must be a continuing full-time student.

Scholarship: $1,000.00
Criteria: The gift will provide one annual scholarship award for an Art student of any level or degree pursuit who demonstrate a commitment to and excellence in photographic portraiture. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.

Scholarship: 2 @$1,000.00
Criteria: Must be a continuing full-time student working in sculpture. 

Scholarship: 2 @$1,000.00
Criteria: Must be a continuing full-time student studying painting.

Scholarship: $1,500.00
Criteria: Must be a 3rd year continuing student. Must demonstrate promise in collage, an assemblage, or mixed media. Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher in their major.

Scholarship: $800.00
Criteria: Must be a continuing full-time graduate or undergraduate student. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA overall and strong potential as a visual artist. Preference will be given to Photography students.

Scholarships: 4 @ $1,250
Criteria: Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average. Demonstrated Financial Need. Continuing students who embrace and are pursuing Digital Photography as their focus. Preference for students committed and engaged in the Department of Art through work in Photo or Print lab; active membership in the Photo/Video Club; being active in community building (seeking outside exhibitions for students, opportunities to work with disadvantaged children, or middle or high school students by encouraging photography, holding workshops, among others). Preference for students indicating a keen interest in pursuing a photographic career whether it be as an aspiration for a professional career in the field as a fine or commercial artist or in pursuing an MA or MFA in photography. 

Scholarship: $1,200.00
Criteria: Must be a continuing full-time graduate or undergraduate student. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Scholarship: $1,400.00
Criteria: Must be a continuing full-time student. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. An upper-division student pursuing a BA in Art with a focus on painting. 

Scholarship: 2 @ $1,000
Criteria: Must be a continuing full-time student. Must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and outstanding work in ceramics or 3D media. 

Scholarship: $1,000.00
Criteria: Students enrolled in the CSUN Department of Art & Design with their area of concentration being Ceramics. Financial need may also be considered. Preference will be given to graduate-level students.

Scholarship: $1,000.00 
Criteria: Must be a full-time student (undergrad or grad). Must be enrolled in a Visual Arts program. Must demonstrate artistic merit in the medium of ceramics. Must have financial need. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Funds will be applied for tuition and books. The Art Department Scholarship Committee will select the recipient with input from the Ceramics program head.

Criteria: Must be a continuing student or incoming graduate student.
