The CSUN Language, Speech and Hearing Center offers a variety of speech evaluation and treatment clinics. All clients must complete an intake form, and have a current evaluation with goals before we can begin to treat. Assessment clinics are conducted at several times throughout the week, and treatment clinics are ongoing throughout the week.
Speech and Language Services
Language, Speech and Hearing Center (LSHC) Services for Adults and Children
We provide evaluation and treatment for adults and children who need help with articulation, phonology, receptive and expressive language, voice, or stuttering (fluency). We have a full service augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) clinic for adults and children who need permanent or temporary communication assistance. Our neuro clinic provides assistance to adults who may be suffering the communication or cognitive effects of stroke, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, aphasia, early stage dementia, or other neurological condition. Our communication skills clinic is ideal for children and young adults who need help with social interactions and communications because they are on the autism spectrum (space is limited in this clinic, to make sure participants can take part in all activities).
LSHC Early Intervention Program for Children (0-3 years old)
For the very young, we provide the Early Intervention Program. Children 0-3 may be eligible for Early Intervention and/or Regional Center funding. Find out more about Early Start Services and the Early Intervention Center-Based Program.

LSHC is Staffed by Speech-Language Pathology Students who are Supervised by Licensed Speech Pathologists
The Center is staffed by speech-language pathology students under the direct supervision of licensed and supervised speech-language pathologists. Supervisors are members of the Communication Disorders and Sciences faculty. Supervisors approve all activities and are directly observing all therapy or evaluation activities in the clinic. Supervisors are also available to clients, should they have any questions at any time. All supervisors are licensed by the California Department of Consumer Affairs Speech Pathology and Audiology, and Hearing Aid Dispensers Licensing Board (SPLAB). Supervisors are also certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), whose accrediting organization oversees the educational and clinical program of this department. All clinical practice adheres to the guidelines of these two agencies, and is evidence-based to provide all clients with the most current and effective treatment available.
