On behalf of our faculty and staff, welcome to the Department of Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Management (MSEM) at California State University Northridge (CSUN). We are thrilled to have you join us for an amazing learning experience in the vibrant Los Angeles Metropolitan area, known for its diverse culture and dynamic economy.
The MSEM department offers a range of outstanding programs in both undergraduate and graduate levels. Our undergraduate offerings include three programs: B.S. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, B.S. in Engineering Management Technology, and B.S. in Engineering Management. At the graduate level, we offer M.S. programs in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, and Materials Engineering. Additionally, we provide opportunities for specialization through three minors: Automation and CAD/CAM, Engineering Management, and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, as well as two graduate certificates: Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management for Engineering Professionals Certificate and Quality Management Certificate. Our B.S Manufacturing Systems Engineering is one of only three ABET-accredited manufacturing engineering programs in California.
At MSEM, we are deeply committed to student success, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The MSEM department’s mission is to prepare our diverse students for success in professional practice, for the betterment of organizations and society. Our vision is to be recognized for accessible, practical, and comprehensive learning experiences. As of Spring 2024, we take pride in the fact that 56% of our undergraduate students identify as Hispanic/Latino, and 79% are first-generation college students. Our department is also home to over 300 diverse graduate students. Many domestic students in our graduate programs have a full-time job in the Los Angeles area. More than 60% of graduate students are international students. We offer graduate-level courses during evenings and on Saturdays to accommodate busy schedules. Our outstanding faculty and staff are dedicated to serving diverse students for their success.
