The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program at California State University Northridge (CSUN) is a joint initiative between the National Science Foundation and the California State University System. Our mission is to increase representation in STEM fields, supporting students majoring in science (biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, geology) or technology (engineering, math, computer science) to obtain their bachelor's degrees and pursue graduate studies. LSAMP provides comprehensive resources and guidance to empower underrepresented students and ensure their success in STEM disciplines.

The College of Engineering and Computer Science Student Services Center & EOP Satellite (CECS SSC/EOP) is a dedicated office to providing comprehensive support services for our undergraduate Engineering and Computer Science students. Their knowledgeable advisors offer personalized guidance on academic planning, course selection, and career pathways. As a satellite office of the Educational Opportunity Program, they prioritize the needs of first-generation, economically disadvantaged, and underrepresented students. They strive to create an inclusive environment where every student feels connected, valued, and supported on their journey to success within their fields of Engineering and Computer Science.

Prior Programs

In the 1970s, the Minority Engineering Program (MEP) was established at CSUN with a powerful vision in mind. This program became a catalyst for change by providing targeted outreach and expanding opportunities for students from underrepresented communities to pursue STEM education at CSUN. MEP alumni, who were also active members of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), found a supportive network that fueled their success and created a lasting impact. Although dissolved in 2001, the Minority Engineering Program had been instrumental in empowering generations of students and fostering diversity within STEM fields while active.

The Attract, Inspire, Mentor, and Support Student (AIMS²) program was created to nurture the academic success and career paths of talented youth in the Southern California region. By aiming to have a lasting impact on California’s economy with supporting these students, they will become influential role models in their communities. The program seeked to enhance the academic achievements and research abilities of Hispanic and low-income students specifically in engineering and computer science fields. Although the AIMS² concluded in 2022, it's history lives on as the SECURE for Student Success (SfS²) program coming soon.
