On-Campus Interviews (OCI) are a convenient and simple way to hold your first-round interviews. Using our online system, you can schedule interviews, post jobs and select students online. On the date of the interviews, your recruiters will arrive at the CSUN Career Center and speak with each student in one of our interview rooms.

The Career Center currently has up to three recruiting rooms available per day. Rooms are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Full-day, morning and afternoon schedules for booking rooms are available. Interviews generally run from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour break for lunch. Schedules can be adjusted as needed, but please note that the Career Center closes at 4 p.m. on Fridays.

We highly recommend that you attend a career fair prior to your On-Campus Interview. Career fairs and Information Sessions are excellent ways to increase your visibility on campus and meet students looking for jobs or internships.

If you attend a career fair and schedule On-Campus Interviews within the same semester, the OCI fees will be discounted by $100. OCIs are not available to third-party recruiters.

  • Standard fee: $275

  • Discounted fee: $175

  • Cancellation fee: $50

On-Campus Interview Instructions

Employers attach job postings, view applicant resumes, and select candidates online. Students then schedule their interviews online before the in-person meeting.

Request a schedule

  • Log in to an existing account or register for a new account.

  • From the short-cut sidebar menu, select "Interviews".

  • Select “California State University, Northridge” as the school that you would like to interview with.

  • Select “CSUN Career Center” as the center.

  • Select a date for your interview.

  • Select how many interview rooms you will need and click on "Add Date".

  • Select your Preferred Timeline.

  • Select your Interview Slot Template.

  • Attach Job(s) to the Interview Schedule.

  • Then click on the Request tab.

We will respond to your request within 2 business days. All requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

We recommend that you make your qualification requirements as broad as possible so that otherwise excellent candidates are not excluded from applying. If you wish to make last-minute modifications to the format of your interview schedule (i.e., time slots, interview length, start/end time), please get in touch with Odette Fullum, On-Campus Interview Coordinator, at (818) 677-5560 or odette.fullum@csun.edu.

Company Information Sessions are a wonderful way to increase visibility on campus, meet students and recruit for jobs and internships. Come to the Career Center to inform students about your organization, company culture, day-to-day life, and career opportunities.

Some employers prefer to hold Information Sessions when they are beginning to come on campus, using it as a method to get their name out and inform students of opportunities that they might not otherwise consider. Other employers will hold an event one or two days before On-Campus Interviews and invite all interviewees to break the ice and answer many basic questions in a less formal, more comfortable environment.

Information Session fees are discounted to $250 or $450 (depending upon location) if you attend a career fair or schedule On-Campus Interviews within the same semester. Information Sessions are limited to two per semester.

Meeting Room On-Campus

(40 students or less) - Subject to availability.

  • Cancellation fee:  $50

Request an Information Session

  • Send an email with the subject line of “Information Session Request” to Odette Fullum at odette.fullum@csun.edu.

  • Date requested for the Information Session.

  • Time (start and end).

  • High-Resolution logo of the company (for social media purposes: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the Handshake system).

  • A detailed description (this is what the students will see when registering in the Handshake system, and this will also go out in a mass email).

  • Desired class levels and majors to be targeted

Information sessions are typically held in the early afternoon or evening, 4 - 7 p.m., generally lasting between one and two hours. Depending on room availability, Information Sessions are scheduled between Monday and Thursday and must be completed by 7 p.m.

Information Sessions are typically held in meeting rooms, which hold up to 40 students. If a larger room is needed, another venue on campus may be arranged. **Subject to availability.

Refreshments

Many employers choose to provide refreshments for the students during the Information Session. This may include light refreshments, such as cookies and beverages, or more substantial fare, such as pizza. The Career Center will arrange for refreshments upon request. Any refreshments provided by the Career Center will be invoiced to the employer at cost after the event. *No outside food can be brought in by the employer.

Marketing

The Career Center will market your information session to CSUN students and alumni, which may include:

  • Targeted emails to registered students and alumni.

  • Flyers are posted in the Career Center and appropriate departments.

  • Inclusion in monthly event calendars.

  • A-Framed Posters placed in high-traffic areas campus-wide.

  • Online posting and student sign-ups.

  • Matasync site (campus-wide student clubs & organization posting board).

Some employers may wish to market the event through other avenues.

Posting Jobs and Internships

Handshake provides online job and internship posting guidelines. The Career Center does not provide a referral service and makes no guarantee that all jobs or internships posted will be filled.

  • All job and internship postings are reviewed and approved at the discretion of the Career Center, and we reserve the right to choose to deny posting a position if it does not appear to support the best interests of students and/or the University.

  • The Career Center serves the entire CSUN student population, and we reserve the right to deny services to an employer or choose not to post a position that restricts the application to specific populations (see: USA EEOC: Prohibited Employment Policies & Practices). Employers must agree to work within the framework of the NACE Professional Standards for University Relations and Recruiting.

  • Commission-only positions must be clearly identified as such in the position description and on any recruitment materials. (Does not apply to internship postings).

  • Independent Contractor or Freelance positions must be clearly identified as such in the Job Title, position description and include the following text: "Independent contractors or freelance workers are responsible for paying their own taxes, filing required government forms and obtaining their own benefits including worker's compensation, disability, etc."

  • Positions must pay at least minimum wage for the state of California or minimum wage for the County of Los Angeles, or minimum wage for the City of Los Angeles, with the exception of unpaid internships for academic credit or positions with non-profit organizations.

  • We do not post volunteer positions. Volunteer positions can be posted through the Matador Involvement Center (MIC). You may reach the MIC at (818) 677-5111.

  • Positions may be posted on Handshake for a maximum of 180 days at a time.

  • Positions that involve on-campus non-commercial solicitation, marketing, advertising or distributing promotional materials will be required to comply with all applicable Matador Involvement Center regulations. (Call: MIC (818) 677.5111). The position description should include the following statement: "Representatives will be required to comply with all applicable CSUN Matador Involvement Center regulations regarding on-campus publicity and posting and non-commercial solicitation.

  • Positions submitted by Third Party Recruiters must be clearly identified as such in the position description.

  • We do not post positions that require an initial investment or payment by the prospective employee. Investments include but are not limited to: requirement to attend unpaid orientation or training sessions; direct payment of a fixed fee; payment to attend orientation or training sessions; and/or purchase or rent of a starter kit, sales kit, sample or presentation supplies.

  • We do not post positions that discriminate on the basis of citizenship, status, or national origin (i.e., requires U.S. citizens only as a condition of employment), unless U.S. citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order or government contract. (see: U.S. Department of Justice Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices).

  • We do not post promotional announcements for recruitment events, graduate programs, or other activities that are non-CSUN affiliated.

Denial of Services

We reserve the right to refuse service to employers or specific recruiters at the discretion of the Career Center staff due to any objectionable activities, including, but not limited to, any of the following reasons:

  • Dishonesty and/or misrepresentation of the company and/or position.

  • Discrimination according to EEO practices.

  • Any action that falls outside of federal or state employment laws or NACE standards and ethical principles and guidelines.

  • Failure to provide FULL DISCLOSURE of essential information concerning the nature of the position or compensation, including but not limited to commission only, job responsibilities or applicant requirements; breach of confidentiality; reneging on established agreements between the Career Center and the employer (verbal or written).

  • Failure to pay for billed services may revoke an employer’s recruiting privileges at CSUN for up to two years.

  • Failure to adhere to any Career Center policies and/or any other violation of California State University, Northridge rules, and regulations.

  • Harassment of California State University, Northridge students, alumni, staff or faculty.

  • Excessive rudeness, aggressive language or behavior, threats, use of inappropriate name-calling, cultural slurs, racial or sexual epithets toward any Career Center staff member or student assistant.

Participation and Attendance

  • All job and internship fairs hosted by the Career Center are solely for employers to recruit student and alumni candidates and for students and alumni to meet employers to discuss career and internship opportunities.

  • The maximum number of representatives allowed to attend per registration is three. Please do not schedule “tag teams” of representatives that relieve one another during the event. You may purchase an additional table at the standard registration fee to accommodate four or more representatives.

  • Career Center events are not for employers to solicit employer business contacts. If an employer is found to be conducting business other than recruiting students and alumni for possible positions, that employer will be asked to leave the event immediately. In addition, that employer forfeits any fees associated with the event and will be subject to the Denial of Service policies.

  • Employers identified as Graduate School Programs and/or Professional Schools may be limited to participation in job fairs and career events on a waiting-list basis; if space is available two weeks before the event, schools representing any of the aforementioned categories may be permitted to participate in the event, to a number determined by the Career Center.

  • The Career Center can only process credit card payments and check payments. Checks and should be payable to: CSUN Career Center and mailed to 18111 Nordhoff St., BH 413, Northridge, CA 91330-8241.

  • Cash payments are not accepted as we cannot process cash. The Career Center will process payments in a timely manner and will make available receipts when requested and will email payment confirmations for job fair activity.

Multilevel Marketing Companies

  • Multilevel Marketing Companies, also called Network Marketing Companies, are not defined as "employers" by the Career Center and are not eligible to participate in job fairs.

  • The Career Center considers organizations that engage in the following to be Multi-Level Marketing Companies:

  • Sponsoring an individual to set up his/her own business for the purpose of selling products or services and/or recruiting other individuals to set up their own business.

  • Requiring an initial investment from this individual, with the organization itself serving as an umbrella or parent corporation. The initial investment may be direct payment of a fixed fee, payment to attend an orientation or training session, and/or purchase of a starter kit.

  • Compensation is often in the form of straight commission, fees from others under their sponsorship in the organization, and/or a percentage of sales generated by others.

Online Job Posting Services or Companies

We do not extend Job Fair participation, Handshake job postings, or other employer services to Online Job Posting Services, Companies, or Job Boards of any type.

Table Assignments

  • The Career Development Center assigns tables using a complex formula that takes into account industry designation, display needs, electrical needs, number of recruiters present, and competition (we try never to place competing employers next to or opposite each other).

  • Tables cannot be shared by employers. One table per company or business, with a maximum of three representatives per registration.

  • Table assignments are final. If an open table is available on a fair day, an employer may request to move. The Job Fair Coordinator will facilitate such discussions, and all decisions are final.

Walk-on Registration

On occasion, one or two tables become available for walk-on job fair registrants. These tables become available because of "No-shows." If such a table becomes available, the Career Center will release that table 30 minutes after the start of the fair to the employer who made the first walk-on request (and a second table to the second request, etc.). The fee for that table will be the regular rate. That employer must have payment in hand (credit card; no cash). The Career Center does not encourage walk-on registrations as we cannot guarantee table availability.

Extra Tables

On occasion, employers request extra tables. Because of California fire code and facility restrictions, the Career Center adheres to the pre-determined possible layouts for the career fair. There are only a limited number of spaces for extra tables, and the configurations are therefore limited. An extra table is billed at the standard registration fee rate. Requests are processed by sequence received.

Refunds

  • Refunds will not be issued for cancellations that occur two weeks or less prior to any Career Center event. During a period greater than two weeks, employers may request a refund of fees paid minus a $75.00 processing fee.

  • No refunds will be given for "no-shows" to Career Center events. Fees paid are forfeited.

  • No refunds are given to any company/business that has violated a Career Center policy and is denied services. Fees paid are forfeited.

  • Please understand that the Career Center does not issue refund checks; instead, the University's Accounts Payable office does this. Refunds may take between 30-45 days to process.

"No-Show," Cancellation, and Refunds

On occasion, an employer may, for whatever reason, decide not to attend a job fair for which they have paid and registered. If that employer "no-shows," that is, does not come to the fair and does not notify the Career Center prior to the event that they are not coming, the full fee for the fair (or fairs) is assessed. In the rare instance that the registration fee is not paid, yet the employer was confirmed to attend the fair and subsequently “no-shows”, that financial obligation remains due and payable to the Career Center upon demand.

Domestic Employment

Individuals hiring for openings associated with private individuals or residences (e.g. babysitting, gardening, driving, house cleaning, tutoring, moving, painting, maintenance, elder care, etc.) are not permitted to recruit.
