More recently, Carbondale coach Jim Miller had two stars, not just one, on the same team of Darius Beane and Crab Acree. Both were playing Division 1 basketball. Beane and Acree dominated the competition in the area, with powerful dunks and tall flying blocks commonly seen on Friday nights in Carbondale. Acree had a bigger post presence, while Beane wasn’t small, but a quick and sharp shooter and facilitator. The duo won multiple awards and tournaments, but injuries and misfortunes prevented them from running very long after the Carbondale season. Beane is currently enrolled at California State University, Northridge, and Acree is enrolled at Ball State University. -- Illinois News Today
