Re: Associated Press reporter Jake Coyle’s article (“Jan. 6, 2021: A national day of infamy, half remembered,” Jan. 6): The storming of the Capitol a year ago by Trump’s Republican minions reflects the vulnerability of whatever democratic traits and institutions we have. Those minions were hardly outliers of the Republican Party. A Quinnipiac poll found that, while 93 percent of Democrats correctly saw the attack as an attack on government, only 29 percent of Republicans agreed. -- Santa Fe New Mexican

79th Annual Golden Globe Awards Announce Winners At Non-Televised Ceremony

At the conclusion of Hoehne’s remarks, Tige Charity, Executive Director of Kids in The Spotlight, took the stage to provide an overview of the organization, and then announced the first two Awards of the evening. Throughout the event, various HFPA grant recipients and nonprofit leaders spoke about the work of their respective organizations, followed by the announcement of Award category winners. Wave of California colleges extend remote instruction amid worsening Omicron surge

Four more University of California campuses — UCLA, Berkeley, Riverside and Merced — announced Friday they would extend remote instruction to Jan. 31, following earlier announcements to do so by Davis, Irvine, Santa Cruz and San Diego. Cal State Northridge and Cal State Fullerton also announced remote starts this year alongside a handful of other campuses in the 23-campus California State University system. -- Los Angeles Times
