Nichols, a graphic designer, learned about the property by chance while scrolling through Facebook. She sent the listing to her husband almost as a joke. The couple was established in L.A., where Nichols, 34, grew up. Kufs, 43, a Long Island native, lived in L.A. for 20 years. They owned a home and Kufs was working as a musician and an adjunct English professor at California State University Northridge. Nichols left her job in 2018 and was working on a degree in library science. Kufs wondered how long he could continue to be an adjunct in the hopes of finding a job as a full-time professor, or if he finished his Ph.D., if he would end up with a job in a place he didn't want to be. -- Times Union
