CSUN Students to Discuss Criminalization of Gender at Women’s Forum

Two teams of California State University, Northridge students tomorrow will present to members of the United Nations, their representatives and grassroots organizations from around the world on the criminalization of gender. They will present via Zoom at the 67th Non-Governmental Organizations’ Committee on the Status of Women, New York Forum, where international grassroots organizations and activists discuss gender equality, women’s rights and the empowerment of women. -- SCV News

Charles Lloyd 85th Birthday Celebration The tenor saxophonist and flutist is turning 85 and the Soraya has big celebration plans. The theater at Cal State Northridge will feature performances by Lloyd and his two trios, one with Gerald Clayton and Anthony Wilson, and the other with Bill Frisell and Larry Grenadier. This recommendation comes from Times classical music critic Mark Swed. Lloyd has apprenticed with legends including Phineas Newborn and Howlin’ Wolf. More recently, he released a series of albums in 2022 as part of his “Trio of Trios” project in which he performs in various trio settings. Matadors Win Sixth Straight; Improve to 9-2

California State University, Northridge, extended its winning streak to six as the Matadors defeated Idaho 5-2 in women’s tennis action Monday afternoon at the Matador Tennis Complex. -- SCVNews

CSUN Baseball Downs Pepperdine 8-3

Kenji Pallares tossed five shutout innings while California State University, Northridge (9-3) scored six runs over its first four innings en route to an 8-3 win over Pepperdine at Eddy D. Field Stadium on Monday afternoon. Jacob Simons finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and a home run. Ryan Wentz made his return to the mound, tossing three shutout innings for a save. -- SCV News

Former Cougs Hannah, Kane Named to State’s Athletic Honor Roll

In the classroom, Lauren Hannah posted a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in journalism and taking part in the college’s Canyons News broadcast production team. She graduated from the college with valedictorian honors in spring 2022 and has since transferred to California State University, Northridge to continue her journalism studies. -- SCV News

Thursday, there are two Big West matches when No. 6 UC Irvine goes to UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego is at No. 12 CSUN. Ninth-ranked Loyola Chicago of the MIVA is home for No. 14 Charleston of the EIVA, and there’s an NEC match when LIU goes to St. Francis Brooklyn. Also, the NEC’s St. Francis (PA) plays at independent Queens and the NEC’s Fairleigh Dickinson goes to Belmont Abbey of Conference Carolinas. -- Volleyball Magazine
