SU track and field star Cheree Hicks to have jersey retired

Hicks is a six-time Big East Champion thrower, six-time All-American and three-time NCAA silver medalist. She had a decorated collegiate career as a student-athlete at Syracuse and Cal State Northridge (CSUN). During the 2000 season at Syracuse, she finished second in shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championships and finished second in both shot put and discus in the NCAA outdoor meet. In that same season, Hicks set a Big East Indoor Championship record in the shot put and Big East Outdoor Championship records in both the shot put and discus. Overall, she was a six-time All-American at Syracuse and won six Big East Conference championships (indoor shot put twice, outdoor shot put twice, discus twice).She later went on to the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in 2000, where she placed fifth. Hicks still holds the indoor and outdoor shot put and discus records at Syracuse University. --CNY Central

Pennfield names its 2024 Hall of Fame class. Who will be joining the elite club?

A three-sport standout, Greg Shepard played baseball, basketball and football at Pennfield. Shepard earned all-conference and All-City honors in baseball twice and was all-conference and All-City in football once. He was named MVP of both the football and baseball team his senior year. He went on to play baseball at Kellogg Community College, Cal State Northridge and was signed by the Chicago White Sox. --Battle Creek Enquirer

Defensive Battle Ends in 0-0 Draw for Men’s Soccer at CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Posting its third shutout in four games this year, the Pacific men's soccer program held CSU Northridge scoreless in a 0-0 draw Thursday at the Matador Soccer Field. The Tigers (2-1-1) and Matadors (1-1-2) traded scoring opportunities throughout the match, but ultimately the goalkeepers prevented any from reaching the back of the nets. CSUN Matadors Head to Sacramento for Volleyball Tournament

CSUN Track & Field Announces Race to $100K Campaign

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Coming off a 2023-24 season of unprecedented success, the CSUN Track & Field and Cross-Country programs have announced the RACE to $100K campaign. In addition to sending three student-athletes to the Olympic Trials in Oregon in June, CSUN was represented at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in four total events – the most in 16 seasons – and in one event at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. -- BVM Sports
