Off The Bat: Bad Weather, Big Series Deliver Wild Weekend

In the conference standings, UC San Diego (20-9, 10-2) is in first place, but the Tritons still aren’t eligible for the NCAA Tournament as they are in their third season of reclassifying to Division I. Fullerton (16-10, 9-3) is in the driver’s seat having just knocked off the reigning champion, but UCSB (19-9, 6-3) can’t be counted out. Long Beach State (20-10, 8-4) and Cal State Northridge (18-8, 6-3) are in the mix as well. -- Baseball America

According to a release, Ellerbe brings more than 20 years of communications and marketing experience in collegiate athletics to what is a new role at Vanderbilt. Most recently, she served as associate athletics director for marketing, branding and fan development at California State University-Northridge, overseeing external operations for the school's 19 NCAA varsity programs. -- Nashville Post

CSUN Beach Volleyball Sweeps St. Katherine; Falls to Concordia

The California State University, Northridge beach volleyball team (13-12) split a Saturday at Great Park as the Matadors swept Saint Katherine for the second straight day before falling in a tight 3-2 decision to host Concordia Irvine. -- SCV News

How Brands Like H&R Block, Degree and LG Are Closing the Equity Gap for NIL in College Sports

Before Anessa Campos signed an NIL deal with H&R Block, the Cal State Northridge soccer star had already played on the 2022 U.S. Deaf Women’s National Soccer Team that won the Olympic Gold Medal at the Deaflympics in Brazil. She, too, liked the idea of NIL deals rewarding athletes for the work they put into their sport. The reality of NIL deals has been somewhat more limited, as “we do not choose these opportunities; they chose us.” She appreciates how her H&R Block deal offset costs and gave her motivation, but knows the playing field hasn’t quite leveled. -- AdWeekl

The Terrific Ten: Top Performances in College Softball from April 1st

4. Cal State Northridge won their first series over Long Beach State since 2015, with CSUN knocking off the 49ers who had led the Big West in undefeated fashion entering the weekend. CSUN had already won game one of the series, then took the win in the final game of the weekend, the nightcap of a doubleheader on Saturday. The Matadors picked up the 7-1 win to clinch the series, which also happened to be the 1,500th victory in the history of the CSUN program. -- Extra Inning Softball
