Getting to know NBA Draft prospect Lamine Diane: Could he be a low-risk, high-reward option for the Wizards in the second round?

Cal State Northridge primarily played him at power forward this year but he guarded practically every position throughout the season. Depending on what the team needed, he would try to stop a quicker wing from penetrating one game or take on a burly low-post scoring center the next. It’s not often you see a player jump for the opening tip-off and then end up guarding multiple positions throughout the course of the same game. -- Bullets Forever

JJ Says: Sports are part of the real world

I seldom got to see Lillian in action. She had very few wrestling matches on her home mat, and when I did attend a track meet, I tended to concentrate on the running events. Lillian, of course, was a record-setting shot putter who is headed to Cal State Northridge on a track scholarship. -- Argus Courier

Nets 2020 NBA mock draft radar: Cal State Northridge wing Lamine Diane

Now that the Brooklyn Nets have hired their new head coach, they have to make whatever fortifications deemed necessary to have the right cast around Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving — whether that means re-signing players or bringing on new ones via trade or free agency. -- Net Wire

Here’s hoping the lockdown won’t take out college athletics

Even as the university generally is a large business, athletics as one of its most visible departments is a business in its own right. UCR plays in a Big West Conference that counts a lot of state schools among its ranks, and several in the Southland – UC Irvine, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, and Cal State Fullerton – are also Division I but none of these schools is anything like another Division I school, such as, say, UCLA. No huge basketball arenas, no football team with a big stadium, no huge TV contract with the conference paying each school a pile of cash. -- Press Enterprise
