Einstein Academy High School Principal Steps Down
Edward Gika has been an educator and administrator for over 25 years. As a Cum Laude graduate from California State University, Northridge (C.S.U.N.), he holds Master’s Degrees in both English and Humanities. Mr. Gika has served as both an English instructor and Humanities instructor, as well as an administrator at all educational levels from middle school through university. Mr. Gika began his teaching career at C.S.U.N., where he taught English, Creative writing, and E.S.L. courses. -- KHTS

Burdett graduated from Gallaudet with a degree in computer studies and a minor in business administration. He later earned a master's degree in special education and rehabilitation from California State University, Northridge. After graduating from Gallaudet, Burdett worked for Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Stanford University and Ohlone College, in Fremont, Calif. At Ohlone, he was dean of deaf studies and special services. Burdett served as president of the California Association Post-Education of the Disabled, which oversaw 107 community colleges, eight California state universities and three universities of California. -- Spoke

Puffin Presents Pianist Karine Poghosyan’s “Folk Inspirations” On October 9
KARINÉ POGHOSYAN, an Armenian pianist, has been praised for her ability to get to the heart of the works she performs. She made her orchestral debut at fourteen playing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and her solo Carnegie Hall debut at 23, and has since gone on to win numerous awards as well as performing in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls. Recently, she helped organize the “Requiem and Resurrection” concert in commemoration of the 95th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide at the Saint Vartan Armenian Cathedral in New York. During the 2014-15 season, Kariné made her Washington D.C. debut, in addition to her Toronto, Canada debut where she gave the Canadian premiere of Alan Hovhanes’s Piano Concerto “Lousadzak.” Other performance highlights included solo recitals in Montgomery, New York, and Richmond, Virginia, as well as performing Khachaturian’s Piano Concerto with the Greater Newburgh (NY) Symphony under the baton of Woomyung Choe. Kariné’s musical studies began in her native Yerevan in Armenia at the School of the Arts No. 1, continuing at Romanos Melikian College and the Komitas State Conservatory. Her teachers in Armenia included Irina Gazarian, Vatche Umr-Shat, and Svetlana Dadyan. After moving to the United States in 1998, she received her BM, summa cum laude, from California State University in Northridge under Françoise Regnat, and her MM and D.M.A. degrees at Manhattan School of Music under Arkady Aronov, completing her D.M.A. in a record-breaking two years with a thesis on Aram Khachaturian’s works for piano. She is currently based in New York, where she teaches at Manhattan School of Music. -- New Jersey Stage

My name is Stacy Gramazio, and I’m 44 years old. I completed my B.A. in Media Arts from the University of Arizona and my teaching certification from California State University at Northridge. I have nearly a decade of experience in education and taught English at Poston Butte High School. Currently, I work as a public affairs and communications manager in Florence and serve on the board of directors for the Copper Basin YMCA and the Coolidge Chamber of Commerce. Most importantly, I’m a proud mom of two boys who attend Skyline Ranch K-8.
