L.A Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department Unveil Findings of the Landmark Study Marking a Path Towards Reparations

This week, the Los Angeles Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department, alongside its Reparations Advisory Commission, held a pivotal news conference at Cal State Northridge’s Student Union to unveil the findings of a groundbreaking Black Experience study. This extensive report, developed in partnership with California State University, encompasses over a century of injustices experienced by African American communities in Los Angeles. Through 18 months of diligent research, the team engaged with nearly 60 community sessions, gathered more than 600 survey responses, and conducted 18 focus groups with current and former Angelenos, ensuring that diverse voices shape the narrative.
