As a child she was always drawing or painting, but her focus on art intensified when her parents separated and she moved with her father to Los Angeles. She took art classes at Los Angeles Valley Junior College, then earned a B.F.A. at California State University at Northridge. One of her teachers was Mr. Plagens. “I asked him where people were making art, and he took me on a studio tour of downtown Pasadena.” Before long, she found a vacant space and connected with the Los Angeles art scene that was flourishing in Pasadena at the time. -- The East Hampton Star - NY

Bollenbach was a Los Angeles native who earned an undergraduate degree from the University of California-Los Angeles and an MBA from California State University-Northridge. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two grandchildren. -- L.A. Biz

Arkin holds a bachelor's degree in health science from Cal State Northridge and a master's degree in business administration from California Lutheran University. She was chosen by fellow board members to serve as board president in 2011 and 2015. She serves on the Special Education Local Plan Area board and the city of Pleasanton Liaison Committee, and she is a delegate for the California School Board Association.
