What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: I started in community college not knowing much but my goal was to transfer to CSUN. Once I learned that this program helped with transfer, I was happy to know that this program could also help me navigate college. I was motivated to get help and seek the opportunities the program provided.
What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: Creating Pathways is a program I wish existed when I started my college adventure. However, I'm glad this program has opened up my career with different roads to travel on and continues to help along the way.

What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: The opportunity to meet one-on-one with your peer mentor and access to any book needed for your classes!
What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: To me it means building a bridge between you and the success we work to achieve. To reach the other end the bridge must be sturdy otherwise the bridge will collapse. Creating Pathways will hand you the tools required to build that strong bridge but we are responsible for building towards our success one plank at a time.

Career Goals/Aspirations: Master the field of Human Resources and head that department in a company. Start my own successful business. Start a non profit to give back to the community and also help kids and young adults reach their higher education goals.
In 10 years, I see myself... : With my masters degree from Pepperdine. I see myself a success head of my own business and non profit. I also do business consulting for top firms, efficiency is my forte. This allows me the opportunity to travel and see the world.
What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: I wanted another way to get involved on campus. My goal is to completely immerse myself in the brick and mortar college experience, especially since I am a transfer student and have less time. This is the only program I have found (so far) that is dedicated to transfer students and I want to be apart of this community and represent it well and be able to pay it forward to those who come after me.
What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: Creating Pathways means to me making a way when there seems like there is no way. This fellowship helps keep students on the right path to meet their goals in a timely fashion. If someone were to undertake transferring in on their own they might become overwhelmed or miss opportunities. Creating Pathways gives you the wiggle room to make a path that you want to take with guidance and resources. No two paths are exactly the same but we can each make a way to reach our goals and encourage someone along the way.

Career Goals/Aspirations: I have always had a passion for helping others, and I plan to follow this passion throughout my entire career. Upon graduation I would like to work at a small business consulting firm- one that works with small business owners at each stage of their businesses life cycle. I would also like to work part-time at a non-profit organization.
In 10 years, I see myself... : creating jobs as a business owner and/or running a non-profit. I think it would be great to be a part of a non-profit that promotes entrepreneurship and financial literacy in younger generations.
What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: I was inspired and comforted by the guidance and support offered by Creating Pathways. I knew right away that it was a great opportunity to make the most of my education.
What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: I feel that Creating Pathways is a turning point for many students like myself!

What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: The fact that Creating Pathways was originally made for first generation college students in the Hispanic community.
What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: What Creating Pathways means to me is that it becomes an outlet for Hispanic families that have lived in the poverty level for many generations, and searching for a new life. It allows students like myself to be able to afford things like textbooks and still be able to provide for my family while working on my accounting degree.

What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: When transferring from college to university I wanted to be more involved with school programs and Creating Pathways caught my attention with its title in Spanish, Creando Caminos, because I identify more to Spanish and I was on the search for new pathways, and after reading about what the program offered I knew I had to be part of it.
What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: When I see "Creating Pathways" I think of creating new relationships with others that will help me grow not only as a student, but as a person too. I imagine been part of this program will help me network with people that I will become friends, colleagues, classmates, role models, and maybe even family. We're all gonna have different stories, knowledge, backgrounds, and goals that will help us grow and see different perspectives in life. We will motivate each other and help each other through the tough times and challenges the university will put us through. I'm beyond excited to be part of the program and will do my best to take advantage of the opportunities the program has to offer and will do my best to give back to the program when is the appropriate time. Thank you for this amazing opportunity that I know will open up many pathways in this new journey of mine.

Hobbies/Interests: My hobbies and/or interest includes going out to places with my friends, watching movies/tv shows, and when I am not studying, I volunteer at my local animal shelter, Habitat for Humanity, and Gamers Outreach.
Career Goals/Aspirations: I hope to aspire of becoming a successful accountant. One of my career goals is to work at a successful accounting firm where they treat their employees like family while also giving them the utmost respect.
In 10 years, I see myself... : supporting my family because they are the reason why I am working so hard right now. My parents have taken care of me and have been very supportive and I see myself supporting and taking care of them in 10 years. I also see myself having a wife and kids, a pet turtle or a duck.
What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: Being a transfer student, I know it can be very difficult to adjust to a university. When my friend who was in the program told me about Creating Pathways, she said that Creating Pathways have made it easier for her to adjust because she was mentored, taken cared for in terms of textbooks, and overall being a part of a family. After she told me all these wonderful things that Creating Pathways have done for her, I promptly applied to the program because they too will help me set a path onto becoming a successful transfer student just like how they did with my friend who is very thankful that she joined the program.
What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: It is a path, a path into becoming a successful student at CSUN. The help that the program will be providing to us to achieve our goals will not be taken for granted. The program will assist me in creating a pathway tailored to me.
