Introduction to Psychology
(PSY 150)
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to a broad range of topics related to the field of psychology that include the biological bases of behavior, ethics involved in research, perception, cognition, learning, memory, development, personality. social psychology, psychological disorders and therapy.
Research Methods
(PSY 321)
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the principles of research methods. Students will develop skills in efficiently evaluating research claims and have a “hands-on” opportunity to design and conduct psychology research using the methodologies learned in this course.
Applied Cognition
(PSY 369)
The purpose of this course is to provide a preliminary look at a range of cognitive theories about processes such as memory, attention, and perception and how these theories apply to environments in the real world. Questions examined include
- How reliable is face identification for eye witness testimony?
- How do social drugs affect daily cognitive performance?
- How can we minimize driving errors under conditions of divided attention?
- How do our intuitions about statistics affect social judgments and prejudice?
Professional Development

This course is designed to assist students with professional development materials or the next steps of their career pursuits. Topics covered include

Teaching of Psychology
(PSY 598)
This course is a supplement to the experience of working as a Trainee with a faculty member of the Psychology department. Students will learn techniques for syllabus development, course design, student assessment and providing feedback on assignments.
Advanced Sensation & Perception
(PSY 690A)
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the processes that underlie human sensation and perception. Students will demonstrate mastery of content relating to perception across visual, audio, tactile, olfactory and gustatory modalities.
