Closing a Worksheet and Exiting Excel

Closing a File

To close a worksheet, click File on the Menu Bar and select (click) Close. Alternatively, you can click the Close button (X) on the upper right corner of the worksheet window (this is the lower and smaller of the two buttons marked with an X).

Exiting Excel

To exit the program, click the Close button on the Excel program window Title Bar (the upper and larger of the two buttons marked with an  X ), or click File on the Menu Bar and click Exit.

Note: If there are any open files that has not been saved since you last changed the worksheet, a dialog box will ask if you want to save the changes. Click Yes to save or No to ignore any changes you might have made. If no files are open or have been saved, Excel will close automatically.
