The University Corporation (TUC) has owned the quarter-acre vacant lot at 18321 Halsted Street since 2013, and is finally in a position to construct a duplex and two accessory dwelling units (ADUs). On this parcel, TUC will construct a California SB9/ADU project comprised of a duplex with two 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1200 square foot homes, one 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1,000 square foot ADU, and one 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom, 800 square foot ADU.
The duplex/ADU project was conceived as a positive approach with addressing the impact of highly priced housing and the University's ability to attract and maintain a qualified, diverse faculty and staff. The University Corporation currently owns all the vacant lots and homes located directly across the street from CSUN’s parking lot B6, between Etiwanda and Rathburn. Faculty and staff living near campus helps to foster a sense of community and connects university employees with the surrounding neighborhood.
