New International F-1 Undergraduate Student Response Questionnaire

For best placement into classes please complete the Response Questionnaire below as soon as possible. Once complete, your advisor will use the information you provide, along with any transfer work, and/or any placement exams to create the best schedule possible for you. Your schedule will be sent to your CSUN email for your review. You will then be invited to attend an advisement workshop so that you can discuss your schedule with your advisor. If you have questions about the first semester pre-enrollment process please email the Hub-International at hub.intladvisor@csun.edu before submitting this form (all emails should include a full name and 9-digit CSUN student ID number).

IMPORTANT NOTES:

If you are not a first time, F-1, undergraduate international student, please do not fill out this form. All other undergraduate students should visit find my advisor. Graduate students should contact their program coordinator by visiting find my masters program.

1B. Do you already have your student visa to travel the U.S.?
It is highly recommended that students acquire their student visa and passport no later than one month before the classes begin at CSUN.
If you are sponsored consult with your sponsorship before requesting a change of major.

13. If you are a a sponsored student, do you authorize CSUN to speak to your embassy representative about your academic status, if needed?

The next set of questions will ask you about your schedule preferences. These preferences will guide your advisor when creating your schedule, but are not guaranteed. Course enrollment is based on course eligibility and availability. Please answer all questions below.

Important Note: Fall 2024 students should plan to obtain their F-1 Visa and enter the U.S. no later than Friday, August 16, 2024. Please check your CSUN email for SEVP updates from the International and Exchange Student Center (IESC).

21. In addition to major coursework, all students must complete approximately 45 units of general education (GE), including 9 units of upper division GE. To learn more about CSUN's GE requirements visit https://catalog.csun.edu/general-education/.
Please check at least 5 GE that you find interesting. If you do not select GE an advisor will select for you, this includes transfer students. GE do not need to be related to your major.

Statement about the pre-enrollment process for the FIRST semester at CSUN

For the first semester new F-1 international students will be pre-enrolled into courses after completion of the Pre-Enrollment Steps. Classes are carefully selected to meet university, degree, and immigration policy requirements. Students will begin enrolling themselves into courses beginning 2nd semester and on. 

If a student is pre-enrolled into 1st semester courses, but later is unable to attend, they are required to notify the Hub-International Academic Advisement Team by emailing hub.intladvisor@csun.edu with their full name, student ID number, and request to drop all courses. Request to fully withdraw should be made as soon as possible, but no later than Friday of week 3. Students must specifically notify the Hub-International Academic Advisement Team even if they have notified another office such as International Admissions or the International and Exchange Student Center.
