COMMUNITY BENEFITS
California State University, Northridge is proud to play a leadership role in the region and the higher education community on sustainability issues. The Institute for Sustainability works with stakeholders across campus and in the community to integrate sustainability into all aspects of the university from operations and infrastructure to outreach, education and research.
The Institute has a strong network on campus and in the community and can connect community organizations with relevant stakeholders for resources and collaboration.
The insitute for sustainability hosts free Workshops and workdays at our community food garden with hands-on learning opportunities for volunteers.
We host educational events where community members can listen to engaging speakers, watch documentaries, participate in interactive activities, and even potentially speak or participate in other ways.
The Institute is housed in the Net Zero Energy, LEED Platinum Sustainability Center. Community members working with the Institute can hold collaborative meetings in our state-of-the art seminar room or beautiful outdoor courtyard.
We can provide Campus Sustainability Tours or offer resources for a self-guided sustainability tour.
Our Faculty Associates are experts in their fields and are passionate about providing their expertise to the community.
Institute for sustainability publishes a biweekly newsletter The Footprint and can feature your topic-relevant organization’s work in the Community Corner section.
The Institute tables at topic-relevant community events to support local organizations and help make a change in our community.
We can help advertise and recruit volunteers for your community events.
