Abstract: | The purpose of this work is to synthesize a YAG (Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) matrix composite reinforced with Nextel fibers. Processing parameters will be developed that control the porosity and fiber/matrix interface properties to maximize composite properties. Mechanical properties of the composites will be evaluated in bending and tensile experiments at room temperature and elevated temperatures. |
