Abstract: | The Community Service-Learning and Faculty Development programs at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), in collaboration with UCLA's Center for Community Learning, and two local community colleges, will host a 'Service-Learning Leadership Institute for faculty and a Cleveland 2 College Institute for educators at Cleveland High School. With the goal to increase college-going rates of disadvantaged youth within the Greater Los Angeles Area, these Institutes will support the creation of new, reciprocal, and sustainable service-learning partnerships. Training will underscore a) teachers (K-16) deepening connections between community service performed by their students and academic coursework, and b) strengthening K-12 collaborations with colleges. |
