The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences is committed to supporting faculty who pursue grant and contract opportunities with public and private funders to enhance their research endeavors and enrich student experiences in and out of the classroom. Due to our applied research focus and our commitment to experiential learning opportunities for students, we encourage faculty to secure external support for their projects.
Institute for Social and Behavioral Sciences
The purpose of the Institute for Social and Behavioral Sciences is to facilitate scholarly projects and professional services/activities by members of the faculty of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, both for the professional growth of the faculty, students and staff, and for the benefit of the larger community served by the University.
Center for Geospatial Science and Technology
The Center for Geospatial Science & Technology is an interdisciplinary research center focused on applications, education, and innovative solutions to real world problems using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). As part of our mission, we serve as a leader and catalyst for the advancement of GIS technology for academic institutions, private industry, and the public sector.
Center for Southern California Studies
The Center for Southern California Studies (CSCS) was established in 1996 to provide research, education, and service on public policy issues facing Southern California. Driven by the goal of achieving well-informed public policy decisions, the Center offers diverse programs that facilitate pathways to productive policy dialogue aimed at building community capacity and participation.
DuBois-Hamer Institute
The mission of the DuBois-Hamer Institute for Academic Achievement (DHIAA) is to promote student success through community and campus partnerships. We cultivate active and collaborative partnerships with faculty, staff and students across the CSUN campus community; work with local groups and organizations in Los Angeles County; and provide service to cultural and educational institutions in the community.
Valley Nonprofit Resources
Established in 2007, Valley Nonprofit Resources offers both information and services to strengthen the 4,300 nonprofit organizations in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles
Institute for Sustainability
Founded in 2008, the Institute for Sustainability works with stakeholders across campus to integrate sustainability into all aspects of the university from operations and infrastructure to outreach, education, and research. The Institute serves all the colleges of the university, working to increase interdisciplinary and cross-functional communication, education, and research on sustainability.
