Create Strong Bonds with other LGBTQIA+ Students of Color at “The Lavender Takeover” Hosted by the Pride Center

WHAT: The Pride Center of the University Student Union (USU) welcomes all LGBTQIA+ students of color to experience a vibrant and healing space at “The Lavender Takeover.” LGBTQIA+ students of color are encouraged to proudly express their true authentic selves and engage in rich discussions surrounding unique experiences.

WHO: Whitney Workman, Supervisor at the Pride Center, is responsible for coordinating this event.

WHEN: Every other Tuesday from Feb. 1 to May 10, 5 to 7 p.m.

Feb. 15: GAYme Night

WHERE: The first meeting, Feb. 1, will be held via Zoom (ID: 864 2075 3128, Password: pride). From Feb. 15 to May 10, meetings will be held at the Pride Center (2nd floor of the Sol Center in the University Student Union)

WHY: A special opportunity for LGBTQIA+ students of color to share their experiences, ideas and personal feelings about how their intersecting identities impact the way they move through society.

BACKGROUND: The Pride Center has created a learning, healing and safe space for all queer and trans Matadors of color to take a step back from the complexities of a white heteronormative society and just be themselves. “The Lavender Takeover” will alternate between being open for everyone to join and closed for QTPOC folks to have their own space.
