The new Oasis Wellness Center at the University Student Union invites all CSUN students, faculty and staff to come discover the Oasis for themselves on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. during its Grand Opening Celebration. The Oasis is now a welcoming destination where every CSUN student can find serenity and relaxation amid the constant rush and activity of campus life.
“The Oasis opened its doors on Monday, Aug. 24 to benefit all CSUN students,” said Oasis Wellness Center Manager, Tiffany Shanks. “We are here to provide a wide variety of wellness programs and services for all current students. During our Grand Opening Celebration, you can tour the Oasis, enjoy fun activities, get a chance to win great prizes and a whole lot more.”
Oasis tours will be available from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sept 17. You can also attend the special Grand Opening Ceremony at 1 p.m. in the Grand Salon at the USU. Scheduled speakers include CSUN President Dianne F. Harrison, CSUN Vice President for Student Affairs William Watkins, and USU Executive Director Debra L. Hammond.
While you’re at the Grand Opening, you can also enjoy the Wellness Resource Fair, Farmers Market, a Craft Corner featuring a Zen Garden and Sugar Scrubs, along with live World Music. Attendees can also enter for a chance to win a $200 Nike Gift Card, a $200 Lulu Lemon Gift Card, a Samsung Galaxy Watch as well as a collectible Oasis Face Mask and Oasis Digital Fan.
The Oasis offers indoor and outdoor lounge spaces, acupuncture, meditation, yoga, massage therapy, stress relief, sleep hygiene, aromatherapy, power napping sleep pods, health and wellness workshops, peer-to-peer counseling and equipment checkout (iPads, Games, etc).
All current CSUN students are members of the Oasis at no additional fee. In order to access the Oasis, each student will need to register at the front desk at the Oasis or SRC. CSUN faculty and staff can sign up for the fee-based massage and acupuncture services.
