Global Youth Leaders "Uplifting Humanity"

Four CSUN students (Melissa Baghoumian, Jocelyn Lagunas, Sergio Lopez, Gabriela Mahgerefteh) were awarded the prestigious, national award “Luce 24 under 24” at a ceremony in New York City on November 7, 2023. The J. Luce Foundation issues the award to “the brightest young global leaders” who are “innovators and game changers.” The foundation empowers young leaders to “better humanity” with “honor, intelligence, benevolence, and integrity.” Read more

Dr. Dimpal Jain (Educational Leadership & Policy Studies) has recently won an NSF grant entitled "HSI Planning Project: CSUN START", was recognized for her work with the Badge Project, and presented her book First Generation Faculty of Color: Reflections on Research, Teaching, and Service at the 2023 National McNair Conference at UCLA. Dimpal Jain Receives NSF Grant

Dimpal Jain received an NSF grant for $3 million dollars. The grant is titled “Creating Opportunities for Minoritized Undergraduate Students to Participate in Mentored Research” with Gaby Chavira, Crist Khachikian, Melanie Bocanegra, and Chris Stanford as Principal Investigators.  Dr. Jain will serve as a faculty fellow. Congratulations, Dr. Jain! The Ethnic Studies Education Pathways Project (ESEPP) presents “Activists Against Orientalism & War” on Monday, March 7th, 2022 at 7pm (PST), a discussion between two nationally renowned Los Angeles artist activists Tanzila “Taz” Ahmed (she/her) and Álvaro Márquez (they/them). Both Taz and Álvaro will be discussing their artwork and how they redefine identity and politics in relation to immigration, war, empire, and the act of othering through orientalism.  Read more
