CCAC is an AmeriCorps service program and part of a California statewide initiative to address and mitigate the effects of climate change. This climate-focused workforce development program matches Fellows with organizations to mobilize community members to take direct climate action through education, volunteer mobilization, and assessment focused on urban greening, wildfire resiliency, organic waste diversion, and edible food recovery. CCAC trains and supports Fellows throughout the program to emerge as climate and civic leaders, while helping organizations implement projects to advance climate action that engages community members, cultivates change, and leaves a lasting impact.

CCAC accepts applications for the 2024-25 Fellowship Term (September 16, 2024 – August 15, 2025). This is a general application for Fellowships with CCAC, but applicants can select up to three preferred positions in the application. After applying, all candidates must attend an info session to be eligible for interviews. CCAC @ CSUN
CSUN will be hiring eight Fellows for the 2024-25 cohort. The position is listed as "California State University, Northridge - Sustainability Engagement Fellow" on the positions page. This position description is all-encompassing of CSUN's three distinct positions so applicants should apply to this position if interested in CSUN as a host site, regardless of the focus area of interest.
The eight fellows will be divided into the following focus areas, with opportunities to work together and partner on projects/programs.
- Social Justice Engagement (2 positions): The Social Justice and Engagement Fellow at CSUN will lead initiatives to promote social justice through educational campaigns and community engagement, focusing on issues related to climate change and sustainability. This position will support the development and implementation of strategies outlined in CSUN's Roadmap to Sustainability with an emphasis on goals related to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI).
- Sustainable Agriculture (3 positions): This Fellow will support outdoor and indoor foodscapes at CSU Northridge to increase access to fresh local produce for the campus community. The Fellow will assist in food production, distribution, and space maintenance in support of building a resilient, abundant, and diverse food web on campus. They will oversee service-learning events and volunteer opportunities at the G.A.R.D.E.N and assist with Hydroponic Food Farm operations. The Fellow will organize and culminate educational workshops for the campus and the broader community about regenerative urban farming, closed-loop food systems, and integrated pest management.
- Zero Waste (2 positions): As part of CSUN's commitment to sustainability, this Fellow will play a vital role in advancing CSUN's Zero Waste and food waste reduction goals. The fellow will engage with the campus community through waste tracking, educational outreach, and events to shift the culture toward sustainable practices. By focusing on reducing carbon emissions, achieving landfill waste reduction targets, and promoting food recovery initiatives, the project aims to contribute to California's climate goals while emphasizing the importance of behavioral shifts in waste habits.
- ZW Food Recovery (1 position): This position is dedicated to advancing CSUN’s basic needs, Zero Waste, and food waste reduction goals. The fellow will engage with the campus community through waste tracking and data collection, educational outreach training, events, presentations, and door-to-door interactions, aiming to shift the culture towards sustainable practices. The primary focus is on reducing carbon emissions, achieving landfill waste reduction targets, and promoting food recovery initiatives.
