The University Corporation - Real Estate

Single Family Homes

The University Corporation owns ten (10) single-family homes and two (2) ADUs near the California State University, Northridge campus, with new construction available in 2025 of a duplex and two (2) additional ADUs. All of these homes may be rented by CSU Northridge faculty and staff at below-market rental rates.

The University Corporation (TUC) has owned the quarter-acre vacant lot at 18321 Halsted Street since 2013, and is finally in a position to construct a duplex and two accessory dwelling units (ADUs). On this parcel, TUC will construct a California SB9/ADU project comprised of a duplex with two 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1200 square foot homes, one 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1,000 square foot ADU, and one 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom, 800 square foot ADU.

The duplex/ADU project was conceived as a positive approach with addressing the impact of highly priced housing and the University's ability to attract and maintain a qualified, diverse faculty and staff. The University Corporation currently owns all the vacant lots and homes located directly across the street from CSUN’s parking lot B6, between Etiwanda and Rathburn. Faculty and staff living near campus helps to foster a sense of community and connects university employees with the surrounding neighborhood.
